Reiki Common Questions Why Reiki? The word Reiki is a Japanese compound where "rei" means higher power and "ke" means life force energy. This being known as "universal life force energy". This type of therapy works as the therapist places their hands on or over their client and an energetic connection is formed, thereby promoting healing. I personally like to refer Reiki to Feng Shui-ing the body. Can Reiki Heal Me? No promises can be made on the results or outcome of your Reiki session, just as aromatherapy, or any other healing techniques. Is it Safe for Any Age and Pregnancy? Reiki is safe for anyone, at any age, ALWAYS. In working with energy, it is believed the Reiki works with the intention of the Highest Good, meaning it cannot cause you any harm, and the intention from me, as the practitioner, is working to align you with the universe in the Highest Good. What Can I Expect? During your Reiki session, you can expect me, your Reiki Master Practitioner, to conduct a non-invasive, hands on (or over) or "palm healing" as it was once known in Asia, to you, whom is fully clothed, relaxing on a massage table (or chair), while listening to beautiful nature sounds and gentle music. I will begin the session with a brief explanation of Reiki energy and the benefits it provides. From there, I will ask you to relax and join me in the intention that this time be beneficial for your highest good. Next, I will conduct a series of hand placements, starting at your head and ending at your feet. You may feel various sensations and emotions, such as feeling sleepy and relaxed or even become teary eyed, feeling waves of energy or becoming tingly, but no worries for this is all very normal. As your session comes to an end, you should feel greatly relaxed, balanced, happy and pure.
